Media Release — Victorian Bar Presents 'Lawyers on Film' for Law Week 2024

2May2024

The Victorian Bar is proud to announce "Lawyers on Film," a panel discussion and Q&A session that will explore the intersection of law and cinema.

Following a recent surge in online viewing of court proceedings, the enduring fascination with real-life legal dramas is undeniable.

Renowned writer-director Daryl Dellora, known for his acclaimed law-related documentaries, including "The Search For The Palace Letters" (2024), joins barrister John Ribbands to delve into the complexities of documenting actual lawyers and cases on film.

In an exclusive event for Law Week 2024, Siobhán Ryan KC will host a discussion that promises to offer unique insights into legal storytelling.

The event will delve into the difficulties involved in legal storytelling and explore the allure, responsibilities, and ethical considerations inherent in documenting real lawyers and their cases on film.

Leading up to the event, audiences will have the opportunity to stream Dellora’s insightful documentaries, courtesy of Film Art Media.

Join us on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the Peter O'Callaghan QC Gallery, Ground Floor Owen Dixon Chambers, 205 William St, Melbourne 3000, for an enlightening exploration of when law and cinema intersect.
