Thibaut is an experienced advocate who accepts briefs in all areas of law, with a focus on criminal law (including OH&S), child protection, intervention orders, mental health, and employment law.
Prior to signing the bar roll, Thibaut was a solicitor on the following VLA Panels: Summary Crime, Youth Crime, Child Protection, and Intervention Orders. He was a Senior Lawyer with Angus Cameron Lawyers. He acted for accused individuals in the Magistrates’ Court, the County Court, and the Court of Appeal in relation to all types of charges, from road offences to serious sexual offending and mental impairment cases. He also represented clients in relation to contested child protection and intervention order matters.
Thibaut previously worked for VLA in Melbourne and Shepparton, as well as for NAAJA in Alice Springs. In those roles, Thibaut appeared before the Mental Health Tribunal, the Children’s Court of Victoria, as well as the Local Court and the Supreme Court in the NT.
Thibaut was also an Associate to her Honour Judge Davis in the County Court of Victoria. Her Honour was the Judge in Charge of the Adoptions, Surrogacy and Name Changes List, and was sitting in both the Common Law and Criminal Divisions of the County Court.
Thibaut graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Juris Doctor. He is reading with Dimitri Ternovski and his senior mentor is Justin Hannebery KC.
