Esther's current practice focuses on trial advocacy (criminal law), complex Intervention Orders (contests & appeals), inquests, inquiries and administrative law including judicial review.
She has experience in Statutory insurance, Privacy, State and Federal Discrimination law, Guardianship, Veteran's Entitlements, Immigration (appeals in the Federal Court), Professional disciplinary hearings and Working with Children Check reviews.
Esther accepts instructions for investigations/advice and decision making in Sporting Member Protection inquiries, having conducted these at the National level.
Her pro bono work has included Veterans' Review Board, regular duty-barrister rosters (family violence list), advice to NFP Boards, and referrals from Courts/ Justice Connect and community legal services.
Esther completed a commercial Articles at Deacons (now Norton Rose Fulbright) (2002), and was a Judge's Associate at the County Court of Victoria (2003-2004). Before joining the Bar she worked as a government lawyer with the Department of Human Services Victoria (2004-2006), which included disablity, adoption, statutory drafting and International Child Abduction (Hague) matters.
Previously, Esther practised as a Registered Nurse (RN Div 1 1991-2011). Her health knowledge remains relevant in matters including health/disablity issues, and work with expert witnesses and with vulnerable clients.
