In 2015 Craig moved to Victoria having practised in Queensland, where he holds a commission to prosecute in the Supreme and District Courts.
Craig has appeared in criminal and civil trials and appeals across a broad range of jurisdictions in Australia and overseas.
He has prosecuted and defended serious criminal matters over many years at all levels. Between 1996 and 1998 he was a Team Leader in the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Between 2007 and 2008 he was a Senior Prosecutor and Mentor of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions of Solomon Islands.
Craig has appeared as counsel assisting in a number of Commissions of Inquiry in various States and the ACT, and has also represented parties before such inquiries. He has appeared in coronial inquests on behalf of families and potentially affected parties. He was the lead counsel assisting the DLA Piper Review of allegations of sexual and other abuse in Defence. In 2014 he was appointed as a Senior Member (part-time) of the Veterans’ Review Board.
He has served as an Army officer, both Regular and Reserve, and currently holds the rank of Colonel. As a Reserve officer in 2011 he was appointed as the inaugural Director of the Army Administrative Inquiries Directorate. Craig has deployed on active service to Rwanda, Iraq and Afghanistan.
