Karina has a broad practice and regularly appears in matters concerning: public law, torts, commercial law and criminal law.
Karina commenced her legal career at Middletons Lawyers where she worked in the commercial litigation group. For two years Karina worked at the County Court of Victoria, as Associate to a Judge, where she assisted with criminal and civil trials and appeals.
Karina is an experienced court advocate, having worked as a solicitor-advocate at the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, where she appeared regularly at the County, Koori, Magistrates and Children’s Court.
Immediately before being called to the Bar Karina worked at the litigation practice group at the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office. She was the instructing solicitor appearing for the State of Victoria in the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission.
Karina takes briefs in a broad range of matters and appears regularly for federal and state government entities, including: the Attorney-General for the State of Victoria, the Secretary to the Department of Human Services and the Director of Housing as well as for private individuals and entities. She appears regularly before the Australian Human Rights Commission, the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of Victoria and the County Court of Victoria.
Karina is a sessional academic at the Victoria University School of Law and a contributing author to academic publications, including The Laws of Australia legal reference series. Prior to commencing a career in law, Karina was employed at the Australian National University as an International Contact and Human Rights Officer. She graduated in 2005 with a BA/LLB from the Australian National University with a major in political science.
